Monster Yakitori has reinvented the bar snack with traditional Japanese barbeque in a stylish conversion of a Lyttelton butchers boning and boiler rooms. The bar beneath the stairs on 29 London Street features 100 framed monster portraits by Oscar Guerrero.
Yakitori, which translates literally as “grilled bird”, is possibly the best bar snack ever invented. It’s simple, inexpensive and easy to eat. It can be a pre-dinner nibble, a late-night snack, or a whole meal. The food and drink combinations are endless and mixing and matching the flavours makes eating yakitori style and ongoing creative challenge.
Great food. Spot-on service. An intriguing atmosphere.
Don't come to Christchurch without visiting this iconic bar.
